Discussions on how to write, publish, and sell a book

Audrey Heagney

Does anyone know how to open an NBZ file or what kind of file it is?

In an attempt to back up my document file, it went into this NBZ file and now I can't open it without doing damage to the computer! Help!

What were you trying to back up and from where?

Anything you post here you should have a copy in your word processor. Either write it first there and edit and then post here, or write it here and then copy it to your word processor if you want a copy of it.

I've never heard of an NBZ file but I'm no computer wizard either.

I was placing my document file on a CD and lo, when i tried opening it, it stated it was now in a NBZ file and it came up on the computer as such too. I apparently am far from a wizard at this since no one seems to know anything about this kind of file. I even asked the Geek Squad and they could not help either.
Thanks for the help, though.

Audrey, you might want to Google "What is a BNZ file?" There's a lot of buzz going on. But if you think you wouldn't understand it all, what I believe is that you are doing the wrong things in downloading. You've evidently hit a key that tapped you into a more complicated process.

Most programs say "Backup to CD" or "Burn to DVD" or some such. It should be that simple.

Also, check to make sure you are using the proper CD or DVD required.

Normal downloading should not create this NBZ file, but there are many variables, like what kind of computer you're using, what word processor, etc., etc.

Well I think you are absolutely correct that I must have hit a key that placed me into something quite foreign. Google says there is a NZB file, but it has to do with business. At anyrate, I have decided to rewrite the book I had started and perhaps it will even be better, who knows!
Yes, have checked on the proper equipment for the computer to use CD etc. I usually have not had any trouble burning a CD or backing info up.
I always say, 'don't waster your mistakes, and I will take my own advice and be very careful from now on. If something is worth keeping, I will give it better attention.

Audrey, do you still have the file that you transferred eveyrthing from? If you didn't do a "cut" your information should be right where you left it.

If your computer placed all the original files in this BNZ thingie, that's a mystery to me. Usually a program willnot touch your original files.

Don't you have anyone near you who can help? Family maybe? I would dread starting over again. And I'm sure this is solvable by someone there firsthand.
