- About Me
- I am a Veteran retired US Navy Officer named Albert Petty in my third career as a Published Author, (under the name Al Petty), plus miscellaneous internet ventures. After 22 years in the Navy and 24 very busy years in the San Francisco civilian waterfront industry, my lovely wife Mavis and I took an early retirement after raising our four children and moved from sunny California to sunnier Arizona in 2000. We also have two grandsons, Jhon and Ricky.
- My Work
- With my newfound free time, I sat down and completed one of two books I had been working on and after a time had the first published in early 2004. This is a thrilling, crime solving mystery novel called: “Dial 1 (800) Rewards”. There is a different from ordinary twist to the plot. Just under two years later I completed and had my second book published. It is called: “The Little Love Book for Husbands and Wives”. This has been called “The Ultimate Marriage Manual”. I have over 50 years married to the same wife to qualify me to give advice to help couples stay together for a lifetime of happiness, both inside and outside the bedroom.
I recently completed a new cook book, entitled: "Easy Recipes For Guys Who Have To Cook". It is at the editor now and will be on the street over the next month or so. I am very excited about this one! More info at my webpage. See below.
Also in 2006 I had a song published that I had written many years ago for Mavis entitled: “My Crazy Dream”. This is a Country/Blues Ballad sung by female vocalist Kathy Rider. She made me proud with her rendition. Tis song can be listened to on page two at the below web page listed below.

If you are a new Author who has finished your book and can not seem to get a publisher to look at it and you have no money to self publish it, there is another way.
You can go to Publishamerica.com and submit your manuscript electronically. They will look it over and if they feel it is a good book, they will offer you a seven year contract. They pay everything and get it published and print ready at no cost to you. The contract states your royalty amount: 8,10 and 12% depending on sale numbers. This is a lower amount than if you pay to get it published or are lucky enough to have a major publishing house do it. But it is a relatively quick way to get your book on the street for no money out of your pocket.
They get your ISBN and Bar Code. You need these to get in to bookstores. Plus your book will be listed on all the major online websites, world wide. It is pretty cool to type your name into Google and/orYahoo from any computer in the world and have your book come up.
You will still have to do your own marketing. This is pretty much true who ever publishes your book until Randon House or an other big publisher starts picking up your books and giving you that $100,000. advance and sets you up on a nationwide book singing tour. Good luck with that.
