Virtual Tour Stop for Author and Publisher Carol Denbow

We’re here to talk about your new book, “A Book Inside, How to Write, Publish, and Sell Your Story.” Is this your first book?

Carol Denbow: No, it’s my third release. My first book, Are You Ready to Be Your Own Boss? was released in 2006. Then after a two year gap, I’ve had two new books released in just the past three months. This one, A Book Inside, which I self-published, and Stress Relief for the Working Stiff: How to Reverse the Embalming Effect, which was published by Publish America.

How long did it take you to complete each of your books?

Carol Denbow: Well, with non-fiction reference books such as mine, the research can take months, even years. I spent about 1-2 years researching and less than a year writing each book. Then of course nearly a year longer before I saw any of them in print. It’s quite a time-consuming process.

So if I understand you right, you spent about two to four years from start to finish. Do you think new writers realize how long it takes to complete a book?

Carol Denbow: Oh, I’m sure not, and many might shy away just from the thought of it. But that would be a shame. Once a writer starts a project, they usually get “into” it, and it’s hard to quit at that point. Writing is addicting, but it’s a healthy addiction. To avoid disappointment, writers should prepare themselves for a long road ahead—then dive in.

So what can readers expect to gain from A Book Inside, How to Write, Publish, and Sell Your Story, besides the obvious from the title?

Carol Denbow: Well, I’ve based the books content around questions I’ve received over the years from new writers and published authors. Such as, how do I develop my characters or stay on track with my story? What is an ISBN, where do I get one, what does it cost? Can I sell my book to libraries, how do I find a distributor? Who is my audience and where will I find them? I’ve also included a chapter titled, “25 Unique Ways to Sell Your Book” which offers some great marketing ploys and helps the reader find even more resources for selling books.

As you know, more and more book sales are moving out of the traditional “brick and mortar” bookstores and onto the internet. Does your book offer online resources as well?

Carol Denbow: Tons of them! You are so right. Statistically, experts are predicting that 80% of book purchasing will be done over the Internet by the year 2020. Personally, by the trends I’ve seen, I think that will be much sooner. I’ve included eight pages of online resources!

So where can we find your books and do you have a Website?

Carol Denbow: All my books are available through Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble.com, and all brick & mortar bookstores by request, as well as through my Website at http://www.booksbydenbow.weebly.com.

Right now, if viewers purchase one of my books through my Website, I will donate one copy to Friends of The Libraries in support of re-building libraries affected by the Katrina disaster and the Cedar Rapids Iowa flood disaster as well as donating 10 percent of the proceeds from the sale to Breast Cancer awareness.

I also have a great blog for new and seasoned writers at http://abookinside.blogspot.com. To see where by book tour is taking me next, visit my Website at http://www.booksbydenbow.weebly.com .

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your book tour!
